Proof that first submissions can be GOOD!

Look at the quality of this movie, and it's his first submission! This is PROOF that the ONLY excuse for crappy movies is lack of effort. If all first submissions to the Portal were as good as this, Newgrounds would be a better place. The author obviously put a lot of effort into this, and made sure he had something good to submit to the Portal, not just some tweened-stick-piece-of-crap. Jason Whalley, I think your movie inspired me to start working on my first movie again (I got distracted by StarCraft and my computer is unreliable), because it reminded me that if I work hard, I can make a quality movie. Now, here's where you can improve. The frame-by-frame animation at the beginning is pretty good, use more of it because it looks cool. The characters look good when farther away, but kinda weird close-up. Simplifying the character design might fix that. Using your own voice-acting was a good choice, it definitely adds quality, but the recordings were quiet and not as good as they could be. See if you can find a sound-editing program to fix the volume and such. Also, remember that voice-acting is "acting," so when you start to make more dramatic scenes be sure to make the voices believable. Since this is an internet flash series, a deep plot isn't very possible, but just try to avoid making a cliché vampire story (as most vampire stories tend to be). Anyway, good work. Jeez, I think this is the first time I've been able to give a good, constructive review to someone's first submission... because, frankly, most of them suck.

Dear MushiX;
Thank you for your wonderful review, when I had read it, it made me proud to be on newgrounds. Ever since I put my Crimson Moon Ad on Newgrounds I have received awesome reviews, very positive and constructive criticism. I would love to see your movie when it's finished. And as for my voice I was not one to vocalize my ideas during my childhood, I was a very quite person, But I promise that I will put feeling in emotion in to my voices, thus adding life to 2d characters..I hope...I am getting at the stage where I can do more frame by frame animation, and I am getting more comfortable with drawing in flash so I can add dramatic frame by frame animation. I will try not to be the cliché of Vampire stories. I also value good input, and not some one dissing an animation just because they can. I will try me best to create believe able characters that people will grow to love.

That was... mediocre.

Nothing new or special about that movie. No innovation, the animation wasn't bad but then it wasn't that good either. If you want to be a stick animator, you have to do something new and original, not just emulate every other stick fight movie on NG.

Man, you bez a crazy lil mo' fo'

Heheh, is that you shakin it on the flash TV? It was kinda funny, but I guess most people would find it "gay" (people who constantly use that word should take a good look at their sexuality). I guess this movie's just not for everybody.

Mr. Boombastick invades Newgrounds!

I noticed some people are wondering how this series just popped up on NG, some think one guy is turning it out, and others are just confused (i.e. they think this is Japanese out of... ignorance). This is a Korean cartoon by a small animation team called "HammerWorks." In Korea, internet animation is pretty popular, so there are a lot of series out there. Mr. BoomBastick has been around for a while, I've been watching it for at least a half a year. There's merchandise, an official website, and it's featured on a Korean animation site, http://ani.daum.net. If you can find your way around that site, you'll be enjoying a nice collection of great flash series.

Phew, now that it's un-stolen...

I'm a fan of Korean Flash animation, so I'm happy to see that the real authors of this series, HammerWorks, are now being given credit for their hard work. Er, don't expect them to reply to your reviews much, English isn't their first language, after all. This series is great, Mr. BoomBa is a cleverly-made character with a lotta spunk, and you don't need to know Korean to understand the cartoons (a lot of Korean flash cartoons are language-less). See Mr. BoomBa along with other Korean flash cartoons at http://ani.daum.net. They sell Mr. BoomBa merchandise there, too! I've got my eyes set on that cool plush doll...

Evilzug returns

All you little prick kids giving this bad reviews are total fewels. How long have you been on NG? You've gotta be newbs, because you people must not have heard of "Work It!", one of the greatest music videos to ever grace Newgrounds, using old school 8-bit sprites in sync with techno music. The video was SO GOOD, that many people even made "Work It!" parodies. This video follows in those footsteps, using the classic 8-bit graphics that remind the viewer of such classics as Pitfall. This is definitely a video for the old-schoolers. If you haven't played an 8-bit Nintendo, then you need to get out of your step-daddy's sex dungeon and get a life. Long live 8-bit graphics! Long live Evilzug!

Very very cool.

The animation seemed to get better and better as the movie progressed. The style of the animation captured the very action of a DBZ fight, and it looked great. To improve, the characters need better design. I guess making them black and simple made it easier to animate, but giving them more detail such as clothes would make a big difference in aesthetic appeal (how cool it looks to people). Keep making cool stuff like this, good work.

Beebo rocks

I don't know what's so funny about a cat with facial hair who smokes, but damn it really IS funny. The voice acting for Harry, coupled with the sound effects and character design for Beebo, are what make this series so entertaining. "I'm going to kill you, Beebo!" "Meow." I mean, damn, it's freakin funny. I hope the next part is released soon.

Hmmm

I think what really won me over was the Duck Hunt scene. When Link popped up just like the dog... I had to stop myself from laughing out loud. Man, talk about old school, Duck Hunt was like the second game I ever played. Great movie, lots of great random humor, in fact it was the really bizarre random scenes that made it so good. Should've been at least one Cid in it, though.

ManticMage responds:

Cid... Just wait till number 2!

O_O

That was... very... strange... and, disturbing. But it was freakin' cool! Like it or hate it, it's definitely a must-watch movie.
