Interesting, not spectacular but good nonetheless

In response to one of the other reviewers, no Cyborg 009 was NOT done by Tezuka. Cyborg 009 and Kikaider (originally a live-action show) were both the work of Shotaro Ishinomori, another important figure in anime/Japanese TV history.

The longest running series of Cyborg 009 (there were three series altogether) started at the end of the 70's, and it was in color. The newest one on Cartoon Network is just yet another remake, just as the 70's-80's version was a remake of older versions of the manga/anime.

mmark-oldflash responds:

Not quite. While Cyborg 009 is a remake, is not the same as 70's version. For one, the 2001 series covers the Mutos Saga, an arc that has only been seen in the original manga. Also, the final season, God's War, was written by Shotaro, by he died before it was concieved. However, it will be animated into the 2001 series.

Pretty good

I've seen a few claymation and stop-motion-animation movies here on Newgrounds, and this is one of the better ones. The movement wasn't too choppy, and on some parts the movement was really fluid, which was cool. Ever try something with action figures or models? That would be cool too.

toxicbomb responds:

Hmm, well I don't know if I have any... I will try to think of other types of people to use.

You people never learn!

Are you all retarded, or what? Why did you people vote to protect this? It's nothing but a 4.5 MB preloader, and this isn't the first time that the author as done this (see "THIS PASSED JUDGEMENT!"). Jeez, you have to be pretty dumb to fall for the same trick TWICE. All of you that voted higher than 0 have just made big asses of yourselves. Don't blame the author, you have no one but the voters of Newgrounds to blame.

FourStar responds:

yeah, its pretty sad. oh well

It's been done already.

First of all, I love Brak. But second, and more importantly, there's already 2 flash movies on Newgrounds with the same audio, and the same illustrations. In fact, counting yours, that's 3 movies that are just about the same thing. The little black-and-white drawings are so similar, it's almost like the same person did them.
To your credit, though, you did draw Brak better than they did.

SpectreMedia responds:

can you tell me the names of these So called clones on newgrounds i want to watch them for myself...becuz i was unaware of this... THANKS My AIM name is Jonju63 and my email is jonju62@hotmail.com

Proof that first submissions can be GOOD!

Look at the quality of this movie, and it's his first submission! This is PROOF that the ONLY excuse for crappy movies is lack of effort. If all first submissions to the Portal were as good as this, Newgrounds would be a better place. The author obviously put a lot of effort into this, and made sure he had something good to submit to the Portal, not just some tweened-stick-piece-of-crap. Jason Whalley, I think your movie inspired me to start working on my first movie again (I got distracted by StarCraft and my computer is unreliable), because it reminded me that if I work hard, I can make a quality movie. Now, here's where you can improve. The frame-by-frame animation at the beginning is pretty good, use more of it because it looks cool. The characters look good when farther away, but kinda weird close-up. Simplifying the character design might fix that. Using your own voice-acting was a good choice, it definitely adds quality, but the recordings were quiet and not as good as they could be. See if you can find a sound-editing program to fix the volume and such. Also, remember that voice-acting is "acting," so when you start to make more dramatic scenes be sure to make the voices believable. Since this is an internet flash series, a deep plot isn't very possible, but just try to avoid making a cliché vampire story (as most vampire stories tend to be). Anyway, good work. Jeez, I think this is the first time I've been able to give a good, constructive review to someone's first submission... because, frankly, most of them suck.

Danthi responds:

Dear MushiX;
Thank you for your wonderful review, when I had read it, it made me proud to be on newgrounds. Ever since I put my Crimson Moon Ad on Newgrounds I have received awesome reviews, very positive and constructive criticism. I would love to see your movie when it's finished. And as for my voice I was not one to vocalize my ideas during my childhood, I was a very quite person, But I promise that I will put feeling in emotion in to my voices, thus adding life to 2d characters..I hope...I am getting at the stage where I can do more frame by frame animation, and I am getting more comfortable with drawing in flash so I can add dramatic frame by frame animation. I will try not to be the cliché of Vampire stories. I also value good input, and not some one dissing an animation just because they can. I will try me best to create believe able characters that people will grow to love.

Hmmm

I think what really won me over was the Duck Hunt scene. When Link popped up just like the dog... I had to stop myself from laughing out loud. Man, talk about old school, Duck Hunt was like the second game I ever played. Great movie, lots of great random humor, in fact it was the really bizarre random scenes that made it so good. Should've been at least one Cid in it, though.

ManticMage responds:

Cid... Just wait till number 2!

Idiot. Yes, you are.

That was goddamn stupid, if you think it's funny to mock a race of people, then you're nothing but a backwoods supremesist hick. Move back to the trailer park.

KillerBorf responds:

By making that movie, I was not mocking any race of people. I was making fun of bad subtitling. How does that make me a "supremicist hick"? Because I believe that good subtitling is superior to bad subtitling? You are obviously retarded.

Hey not bad

The sounds were good (even the Kenan & Kel intro music). However, a huge improvement on both humor and sound is if you and a friend got a cheap computer mic and did the voices yourselves. It doesn't matter how bad your voice acting is, the worse, the more funny it is. Robot-speak voice actors just aren't as funny (too many people use them, anyway). Lame voice acting = funny.

Mushroom-Clock responds:

Yeah, well I did this really quick. I understand what you mean about the voice acting. But my voice acting would be so bad it would just ruin the movie. I think computer voices work well with movies like this. It's funnier.

Interesting...

I liked how the "rules of insanity" described stuff that's always in animutations. Maybe you should make it longer and include more animutation cliches, like an animutation parody. Someone else did a movie to "Boom Boom Dollar," but it sucks TOTAL ASS. This one is MUCH MUCH better.

Adept-Omega responds:

Thank you. I do like parodying things -- it's fun.

Yeah, I saw the other BBD animutation... it makes me wonder how it got a daily slot. X_x;

Ah well. Thank you for your time!

Bad...

That was bad, even by clock standards.

Mushroom-Clock responds:

This movie ruled you have mental problems seek help.
